Alexandra is also a classroom teacher in the public school system and currently teaches private and group piano lessons to students of all ages; even as young as four years old. She loves to teach and spread her knowledge of music to all of her students.

Alexandra is energetic, insightful, resourceful, and dedicated to helping children reach their full musical potential. Being a diligent educator is important to her, firmly believing music enables students to build a solid foundation for lifelong learning; to establish craftsmanship, imagination, and motivation.

Carrie is an experienced early childhood educator (ECE) with a strong music background. She has over 15 years of experience as a piano teacher. Her classes are always filled with rhythm and fun and she is excellent at connecting with her students through music. On top of piano, she can also play a number of other instruments and occasionally performs as a singer and a keyboard player in small venues.

Jana is a Toronto based musician that graduated with her Bachelor of Music at the University of Toronto, specializing in music education. Throughout the years, she has had lots of experience teaching young pianists and flutists. She has played in multiple music festivals, frequently works with bands at the high school level and performs diverse shows with her choir every year.

Teaching is not easy but Jana is always willing to challenge herself and her students to have high expectations. She incorporates different techniques into her lessons so students continue to feel inspired. She encourages students of all ages, accompanies her church choir and has strong leadership and communication skills. Most importantly, she is always excited about the opportunity to meet and work with aspiring musicians.

Justin Poon - Cosmo School of Music

Justin has years of experience performing and recording guitar, bass, piano, and saxophone in various styles including jazz, R&B, Latin, pop, and rock music. Also an experienced producer and engineer, he has written for and collaborated with many singers, hip-hop artists, and instrumentalists. Being very in touch with music technology, Justin is also immersed in electronic music performance, and DJing as well as sound design for film, video games, and art installations.

With students from age 4 and older, Laura has successfully prepared them for RCM and ARCT examinations. In her 15 years of teaching experience, her students have demonstrated outstanding performance achieving excelling scores in examinations, participating in a variety of music contests and winning first-place awards in music festivals (including the Kiwanis, Yip’s and other festivals).

Laura specializes in classical piano, but she also teaches a variety of other genres and styles. Her biggest motivation and goal as a teacher is to help students realize and build their passion for music.

Laurie brings over 27 years of teaching experience to Cosmo, having taught individual and group piano, music theory, pre-school music classes, and band programs at the elementary school level. She teaches students aged two and up.

She has spent many years performing, as well as holding the music director role with community theater groups and churches. She has prepared numerous students for RCM exams with consistently excellent results.

Above all, Laurie enjoys instilling a passion for music into her students, no matter where it takes them in their future.

Svetlana Nikki Novikova - Cosmo School of Music

Svetlana holds a bachelor's degree in music majoring in Flute Performance and Pedagogy from The Rimsky-Korsakov St. Petersburg State Conservatory, Russia.

Throughout her career Svetlana has held contracts with many different orchestras in Russia, such as: The Kremlin Philharmonic Orchestra (Nizhniy Novgorod Philharmonic Society), The Rimsky-Korsakov St. Petersburg Conservatory Orchestra, Chamber Opera Company, and State Russian Concert Orchestra of St. Petersburg. Over the course of five-year contract (1998-2003), Svetlana had performed in orchestras in Seoul, South Korea, including Seoul National Symphony Orchestra and New Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra.

Since immigrating to Canada in 2004, Svetlana has been a freelance teacher and performer in the Greater Toronto Area. Her private students have been awarded gold medals for their achievements at The Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto examinations. Her students have won numerous prizes and scholarships at the Kiwanis Music Festival and North York Music Festival in Toronto. Many students regularly continue their education at various university programs majoring in music education and flute performance, including University of Toronto, University of Western Ontario, Queens University, and Wilfrid Laurier University.

Vicentiu Vince Dumitrescu - Cosmo School of Music

Vicentiu (Vince) Dumitrescu

Education: Royal Conservatory of Music Certified Teacher; Associate Diploma (ARCT) in Piano Performance

Vicentiu grew up in a family of musicians in Romania; his father being a composer and music teacher, and his mother an opera singer. At the age of 6, he started to study music and play piano under the guidance of his parents. Vicentiu has now developed an extensive career performing and arranging music in a variety of styles, collaborating with many artists, and touring Romania and Norway. In 2005, Vincentiu embarked on a teaching career, helping prepare students of all ages for Royal Conservatory of Music exams as well as performances at various festivals and recitals.

Vicentiu is a firm believer in the lifelong benefits of music education. He motivates his students to achieve the best of their musical abilities while attaining a deep understanding and appreciation of music.
