Discover 8 Instruments in 8 Weeks!
We know that choosing an instrument can be a tough decision, for both kids and parents. That's why in our Music Discovery Program, we provide the opportunity to try out a different instrument each week. Children between the ages of 6 to 9 can feel the vibration of a stringed instrument, experience the satisfaction of pressing keys or test the simplicity of a shaker. This will all lead to students learning the Piano, Singing, Drums, Hand Percussion, Ukulele, Classical Guitar, Electric Guitar, and Recorder.
Over 8-weeks, our multi-instrumentalist instructors will guide your child through the basics of each instrument, its range of tones and physical aspects, along with engaging facts and games. By the end of the program, your child will have a basic understanding of how to play a simple tune, rhythm, or melody on each instrument. More importantly, they will leave with a passion for which instrument they want to pursue further. Contact us for the next Music Discovery Program start date.

Week 1: Piano
In Week 1, students will get a hands-on introduction to the iconic and historic piano, including keys, pedals, and soundboard. They'll learn about the different tones and sounds the piano can produce, and discover how to create their own simple tune through basic finger placement and key recognition.
Week 2: Singing
Starting in Week 2, students will flex their vocal cords and learn the basics of singing, including proper breathing techniques and pitch control. They'll also discover the different sounds the human voice can produce, and will practice singing a simple song with their classmates. By the end of the class, students will have a deeper appreciation for the power of their own voice and a new found confidence in their musical abilities.
Week 3: Drums
Moving into Week 3, students will slam and jam using the rhythm of their souls. They will be introduced to the world of drumming and the various components of a drum kit, including the snare drum, bass drum, cymbals, and more. Not to mention, they will learn basic drumming techniques and how to play a simple rhythm alongside their peers.
Week 4: Hand Percussion
By Week 4, students will shake and sway into the world of hand percussion instruments. This includes tambourines, bongos, claves, maracas, triangles, and more! In this segment, students can explore various percussion instruments while learning their role in creating rhythm. The simplicity of these instruments means every student can make sweet music.
Week 5: Ukulele
Progressing into Week 5, students will be introduced to the basics of playing the ukulele. As they strum and slap away at the maneuverable "ukes," they'll learn about the different sounds a ukulele can make. With a little luck and some guided instruction, your child will gain confidence and skill in playing a simple tune.
Week 6: Classical Guitar
In Week 6, we take students back in history to explore the classical guitar. While we can't promise to create an Andrés Segovia or John Williams in a week, we can ensure each student leaves with more than they started with. For example, students will learn the classical guitar's strings, soundhole, and fingerboard, how to play basic chords, and a simple tune.
Week 7: Electric Guitar
As students get to Week 7, they will step into the world of Rock 'n' Roll. Students will plug in and learn about the electric guitar and its components, including the pickups, strings, and fretboard. As they shred and slash away, they will start to understand the different sounds the electric guitar can produce and how to play a simple riff.
Week 8: Recorder
In the final Week 8 of camp, students will learn to play the recorder, gaining an understanding of its parts, including the mouthpiece, finger holes, and body. We love the recorder because it's a simple, direct melody instrument, making it the perfect instrument for young learners. It's possible, with good Cosmo teaching, to get a good sound out of the recorder quite quickly. At end of this week, students get to take home the recorder provided to them!

What should I bring to each class?
All materials and instruments will be provided, so students do not need to bring anything with them. They are welcome to bring a water bottle. Recorders provided to students in Week 8, they can take home and keep at the end of the week.
