Music Teacher

Contract Basis

If you have a passion for sharing the joy of music, a desire to teach, a degree in music, and a great rapport with all ages, we want YOU on our teaching faculty at Cosmo School of Music! Must have music degree or equivalent certificate. Must be reliable, dedicated, motivated, and able to teach all ages.

Guitar Quality Assurance Technician

Full-Time

Cosmo Music is seeking a full-time quality assurance guitar technician to join our evaluation team. This position has a Tuesday to Saturday schedule working 9am to 5pm weekdays and 11am to 6pm on Saturdays.

Duties would include checking functionality, playability, and cosmetics of a wide variety of guitar brands and models that Cosmo Music carries. The job would include making all necessary adjustments to improve their playability, ensuring that all guitars are received in the proper cosmetic condition as ordered, and the appropriate included accessories are in the box. The job will also call for coordinating with and assisting guitar photographers. There are opportunities to learn from some of our veteran guitar repair technicians to further your repair knowledge and become a part of our repair shop team in the future.

Minimum skills and requirements:

  • Ability to identify guitar quality issues quickly and efficiently
  • Understanding of how the guitar was constructed and the materials and methods used in that construction
  • Staying positive while working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Able to stay detail-oriented and focused on the task at hand
  • Always being proactive with thinking about better, more efficient ways to complete tasks
  • Taking pride in maintaining a clean and organized work space
  • Open-minded while constantly seeking personal and professional improvement

AV Rental Associate - Pro Audio, Lighting & Video

Full-Time

Cosmo Pro is Toronto's fastest growing Audio Visual provider for private, corporate, and live music events across Ontario. We are currently seeking to expand our Rental Team in Richmond Hill, and your working area would be generally within, but not limited to, the GTA.

  • Primary responsibility of representation at our retail rental department, with the right candidates proving themselves to eventually provide on-site support for client events
  • Our success relies on you delivering service beyond our client's expectations – every time – you are expected to have a neat and professional appearance and ensure accuracy and efficiency when dealing with internal systems and outside vendors
  • Must be able to learn and adapt in an ever-changing environment, both as part of a team and unsupervised in the field, follow procedures and complete systems entry and paperwork accurately
  • Working times may include irregular hours and on-call status including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays

Experience:

  • Strong customer service skills
  • The candidate must be able to work both in team and independent environments
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs

The ideal candidate should have at least two years retail or industry experience, be customer service oriented, have a good base-knowledge of Guitars and Pro-audio gear and be interested in helping create a welcoming and positive retail experience for Cosmo Music customers.

Minimum skills and requirements:

  • Excellent organizational abilities; can prioritize and meet timelines in a busy environment
  • Thorough knowledge of at least one family of instruments
  • Exhibit superior interpersonal, customer relations skills
  • Ability to anticipate situations and problem-solve independently
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with strong attention to detail
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends

Violin Luthier

Cosmo Music is in need of a qualified Violin Luthier to keep up with our constant workflow. Cosmo Music's Repair Shop is one of the largest and best equipped in Canada.

Responsibilities include:

  • Violin adjusting and repairing
  • Restoring violin family musical instruments in our rental fleet as well as customer instruments
  • Help create a welcoming and positive experience for Cosmo Music customers

Qualifications include:

  • Completed 3-4 years of experience
  • Good basic tool skills
  • The ability to set-up a violin to a high standard
  • Have a keen willingness to learn
  • Have own tools
