Pianokids® was created when Eleanor Gummer realized the void in the market for a piano method for very young children, from the age of 4. Many attempts have been made to “reinvent the wheel” causing confusion in young children learning to play the piano.
Pianokids® is a traditional Middle C approach with pieces inspired by children!Lesson Books form the basis of the course with repertoire suited to the beginning pianist. Activity Books feature various note-naming exercises, rhythmic drills and ear-training exercises. The Activity Book is used to help reinforce concepts taught in the Lesson Book. Fun Books have additional repertoire and “fun” activities, including note-naming coloring pages to entice young learners.
Why choose Pianokids®?
- Emphasis is on building strong note-naming skills, accurate rhythm and locigal fingering habits.
- Limited distractions on the page, allowing very young students to focus on the notes themselves.
- Spiral binding on Lesson, Activity and Fun Books allow the student to concentrate on one piece of music at a time.
- Concepts learned in the Lesson Book are reinforced in the Activity Book and Fun Book through writing, coloring, ear-training exercises, additional skill-building pieces and flash cards.
- Slurs are omitted in Book 1 to reduce distraction, allowing the teacher to add them as they see fit.
- Pages in the Lesson Book, Activity Book and Fun Book coordinate. No more guess work = hassle free teaching!
