In 1972, musician, innovator, and luthier Glen Quan, along with Leo Malliari of Leo’s Music in Oakland, CA, recognized the need for higher-quality guitar and bass bridges. They collaborated to create the first "Badass" bridges, crafted from a high-density Zinc alloy. These innovative bridges significantly improved attack, sustain, and note clarity. Artists quickly embraced Badass bridges as upgrades for their Fender basses, even featuring them on Fender artist signature models. Throughout the 1980s, BC Rich, Spector, and Kramer incorporated Badass bridges as standard equipment, further solidifying their reputation.
Designed as direct replacements for Ibanez, Schechter, and other contemporary bass manufacturers, our Badass SGT bridges feature high-tolerance machined brass gears with a 20:1 gear ratio, ensuring maximum accuracy and minimal slippage. They are built with a durable steel worm gear and a sealed housing for exceptional longevity. To keep your headstock lightweight, they have utilized a zinc housing.
