Rovner Light ligatures incorporate an old idea for creating natural sound - softly holding the reed to the mouthpiece with no pressure points, just as if the reed were tied on a string. Because there are no pressure points or rigid constraints on the reed, the reed seats evenly to the facing of the mouthpiece, thereby reducing stiffness and increasing tonal clarity. Light models have a rectangular cut-out that reduces the amount of contact between reed and ligature for enhanced flexibility. As a result, they are more free-playing than the original dark designs, with a broader, more open tone quality for gutsy, contemporary styles of playing. The L6 fits all standard hard rubber alto saxophone mouthpieces (except Runyon) and small circumference hard rubber tenor saxophone mouthpieces such as Couf, Berg Larsen, Runyon and Vandoren.
