Like other Helicore strings, this is a stranded steel core set, providing quick bow response and short settling time. The Helicore Fourths-Tuning Cello Set is designed to be tuned in bass tuning (E, A, D, G, low to high). This tuning pattern allows for a whole world of new chordal and scalar possibilities in alternative cello playing. It also provides a way for bass and guitar players to more quickly adapt to cello by using a familiar tuning.

Scaled to fit 4/4 size cello with a playing length of 27 1/2 inches (700mm), these medium tension strings are optimized to the needs of a majority of players seeking G-D-A-E tuning.
