Much more than a budget hero

This masterwork of technology has saved me thousands of dollars. It is so complete, so competent, that I’ll never need another head, save for a marketing miracle landing my band a festival gig, or a sponsorship. And even then, it has a line-out, which the sound guy at my last gig was delighted to utilize. The thrust feature - active compression - is absolutely crucial, and forever remains on. I keep it and the tone knobs at 12 o’clock for the most part, and the flat characteristic of the amp let’s your basses fundamental tone shine through. I use a Boss OD pedal with the unpleasant treble completely off, and lately I’ve been keeping the high-mids and treble around 2 o’clock to compensate. The active/passive switch is another staple. It’s adorably portable, lightweight, and feels like it could survive a drop. It requires a speakON connector, so be sure to purchase one of those along with your speaker cable. This is much more than a “for the price” head - this is simply a great piece of gear that happens to be affordable. If you have the money and you are a bassist at heart (I’m primarily a guitarist), sure, get the Ampeg or the Traynor or Orange. Or get this and put the savings into a high-end bass and some pedals. If you need more than my words, check out the wonderful bass team on the Andertons YouTube page demoing the newest range of TC Electronic heads. I will be exploring their other products after the glowing impression this left on me.
