Ryan McMullen: Hi everybody! I'm Ryan McMullen from Taylor Guitars. I'm visiting my friends here at Cosmo music today to talk about our updated 400 series from Taylor. This is the 417e that I'm holding right here. This is our Grand Pacific body shape, our slope shoulder Dreadnought design that was uniquely invented by Andy Powers a few years ago now this guitar is now incorporated into our 400 series. We're really excited about the fact that we have this option along with our grand Auditorium body shape, and also our grand concert and of course the grand Auditorium. The 414 CE, and the grand concert is the 412 CE, this model here is the 417e. Here are some of the new features for the Taylor 417e Grand Pacific. What it features is a Rosewood back and insides and a Sitka Spruce top. This has been somewhat traditional for us with the 400 series. What's new about this model or some treatments to it like this tobacco Sunburst top which is just gorgeous. It has as a very nice vintage look to it and gives it a really great aged look.

Along with our finial inlays that are on the fretboard, this is a really cool inlay on that fretboard there, and a Goya rosette on this guitar here. So a couple of nice little feature changes to this great guitar but again what we're really excited is this big bold sound in a Rosewood Dreadnought. It's a traditional composition of Rosewood and Spruce in a big body guitar. It's got a lot of sound, it's got a ton of volume and projection and we're really excited to let you try it. Out here at Cosmo music get it into playing the Taylor 417e Grand Pacific hands on and take it home. This guitar also features a hammered leather case. It's a western Floral design on the case itself and it's a really good looking case. Along with the guitar, it comes with the instrument with purchase so come on down to Cosmo music check out the new 400 series line and take one home today!

About Taylor Guitars

Headquartered in El Cajon, California, Taylor Guitars was founded in 1974 by Bob Taylor and Kurt Listug. The two first met while working at a hippie guitar shop in San Diego called the American Dream and partnered to buy the business when owner Sam Radding announced he was selling the shop. Though young when they started (Bob was 19, Kurt was 21), their shared passion for guitar making, along with their gritty resolve to make a living doing what they loved, nurtured the company’s gradual transformation from a struggling shop into the leading global manufacturer of premium acoustic guitars.

Today, Taylor employs over 1,200 people and produces hundreds of guitars per day exclusively in two factory complexes in the U.S and Mexico: El Cajon, California, and in Tecate, Baja California, Mexico. (Taylor does not manufacture any guitars in Asia.) The company maintains an active dealer network, with Taylor guitars sold through hundreds of retail locations in North America and with international distribution to 60 countries, including a distribution warehouse and factory service center in the Netherlands.

Always Innovating Their Sound

By blending innovative manufacturing techniques with tone-enhancing designs, Taylor has set industry-leading standards for playability, craftsmanship and musical performance. Bob Taylor’s pioneering use of computer mills, lasers and other high-tech tools and proprietary machinery helped transition guitar making from its old-world heritage into the modern era and enabled the company to produce guitars with unprecedented precision and consistency.

Along the way, Bob and Kurt have attracted many talented, like-minded people as employees, shaping a widely admired culture of creativity and innovation that has never lost sight of the company’s underlying commitment to improving the guitar-playing experience. In 2011, Bob Taylor hired luthier Andy Powers to lead Taylor’s guitar design efforts forward for another generation. As Master Guitar Designer, Andy has continued to advance Taylor’s product designs with groundbreaking innovations like V-Class® bracing architecture and many other award-winning guitar models. In 2019, Andy joined Bob and Kurt as a third ownership partner.
