What is Music Therapy?

Music Therapy is the planned use of music and musical elements to achieve therapeutic goals. Goal areas can include but are not limited to social, psychosocial, emotional, communication and motor skills.

How do I get started?

Step 1: Assessment

  • 3 initial sessions
  • A formal written assessment is completed based on the sessions
  • Recommendations are made and discussed with the families which may include individual or group music therapy sessions

Step 2: Recommendations

Individual Music Therapy Sessions
  • Custom sessions based on the individual needs of the participant
  • Minimum of 10 sessions at 30 minutes each
Small Group Music Therapy Sessions
  • 4-5 participants
  • Minimum of 10 sessions at 45 minutes each

Additional Programs

Music Lessons (adaptive)

  • Music education program for people with special needs
  • Instruments include: piano, voice and guitar
  • The teacher is a music therapist who is able to modify the lesson or instrument based on the needs of the student
  • Ongoing but a 10 week minimum commitment is required
