- an introduction to notation
- singing
- movement
Orff Part I
- 5-6 yrs old
- no experience necessary
A natural continuation of our Music Garden Program, our Orff Program allows children to develop concrete musical and social skills. This ensemble provides students with ideal preparation for instrumental or vocal instruction.
Orff Part II
- 6-7 yrs old
- no experience necessary
In this program, children will continue to develop skills in melodic/rhythmic literacy, notation, sight singing, and playing techniques. They will do more extensive ensemble work and learn how to play the recorder. Students will read and play from the written page and develop memory and improvisational skills. Home practice is encouraged and positively recognized, as students learn the value of setting and achieving goals. This will help prepare your child for future private lessons.
Orff Part III
- starting in September 2013
- 7-8 yrs old
- prerequisite: Orff II
The program will continue to develop students’ listening and ensemble playing skills and will explore the world of jazz music. Children will use their voices, Orff instruments and body percussion to understand basic musical concepts; movement will be incorporated to kinesthetically understand jazz rhythms. This program is the perfect compliment to private lessons on any instrument.
