Being musicians ourselves, we know, through experience, that there are a few gadgets necessary to help make practicing more efficient:
Metronomes
Or, as most people know them, “the things that goes tik-tok”. If you’ve been using one, you’ll call it your worst/best frienemy. Whether you like using it or not, metronomes are a necessary evil when you’re practicing. No matter how accurate you think your toe-tapping is, you can’t beat the accuracy of a metronome. Like my teacher says, “Practice without accurate rhythm is worse than not practicing at all.” You can get an easy-to-operate metronome like the Yamaha ME-D1 that gives [...] Read more

I have had the use of Yamaha’s new Motif XF6 workstation to prepare for a number of varied style performances. We should not forget keyboards like the Motif XF while not necessarily being the latest, hottest in the media, they are full of many “I did not realize it could do that function” surprises.

The Yamaha Avant Grand N3 is often mistaken for a real baby grand. Until you really take a closer look you will then realize this amazing sound is actually coming from a digital piano. Yamaha has really made a one of kind instrument in the music industry with remarkable results. When you play your first chord on the N3 you feel the true authenticity of its Yamaha Concert C3 action. If you play hard enough, the N3 will vibrate just as any real grand piano would.
Many of today’s top musicians have praised the Avant Grand N3 to be their choice [...] Read more

Peter is the on-staff pianist from the Yamaha European office. He has studied piano for most of his life and joined Yamaha in the 1980s. He's one of the many people responsible for the advances in the technology in the Yamaha line of digital pianos and keyboards. It's truly a pleasure to be able to host Peter as we don't get many opportunites to offer keyboard or piano workshops. He'll be showcasing some of the digital products that Yamaha manufacturers and answering questions on technology and technique.
