NAMM Show Top 3 Hot Items: Pianos
Premium Products: Yamaha CVP609
The new Clavinova series from Yamaha comes with much improved sounds and greater expression on the individual instruments so the easy play orchestration is realistic. Actual wave recordings, of say a Brazilian percussion section playing together, are used in the easy play accompaniments for astonishing realism.

Almost a week has passed since I got home from NAMM, and I've gotta tell you, I'm still sifting through all of the pamphlets, brochures, and catalogues I received while down there. The show is simply overwhelming, and that feeling stays with you as you try to compile a list of what was good, what was ok, and what knocked your socks off.
So here, in no particular order, are some of my top picks from this year's NAMM show.

Last night I had the pleasure of visiting the Suhr Guitar factory here in California. What a place! It was great to see their relatively new facility that's only been open for about a year. In that time they've doubled their staff and tripled their working space, and I'm proud to say that we've been a part of this company's growth.
The tour was very interesting, and it was cool to see how modern technology and old school craftmanship come together when they build these amazing guitars, amps, effects, and pickups.
Some announcements included the discontinuation of the Rasmus line and the [...] Read more

In the recording world what I have seen to be the coolest and best release at this years NAMM show 2012 is UA’s Apollo. It's a high-end 24-bit/192kHz recording front end, but it also enables you to track through the UAD range of powered plug-ins! It'll be available in Duo and Quad processing in the first quarter 2012, with prices estimated at $2200 and $2600 respectively. It’s a Firewire 800 interface but It's worth noting that a Thunderbolt option card is set to be made available too, which will enable "lower latency, reduced audio buffer size, improved performance at high [...] Read more
