I have been asked in the past if I was stuck on a deserted island which microphone I would want with me. Without any hesitation I always reply the SM57! My reason for this is quite simple. For recording rock, punk and heavy metal there no instrument that you can put the SM57 on that won’t sound good in the final mix.
