  • NEW: Ryan's Guitar of the Week

Event took place on May 20, 2013 by Ryan Casselman

If you’ve been to our store, or even if you’ve taken the online tour, you know that we have a ton of guitars on the wall. There are anywhere from 800 to 1000 at any given time. Needless to say, it can be a little overwhelming, so when I sat down to write my first Guitar of the Week feature, I was faced with a pretty tough task. Which guitar do I start with? How do I pick? Electric? Acoustic?

I decided to start at the beginning and to pick my favourite example of the first commercially viable solid-body electric guitar [...]  Read more

Posted on April 25, 2012 by Matt Metcalf

Its the 25th anniversary of Ibanez's RG series guitars, marking the release of the new Ibanez RG1XXV-FPK. The body of the Ibanez RG1XXV-FPK combined with the bold fluorescent pink or yellow finish with black pickguard are reminiscent of the prime of power metal and high-octane shredding.
Ibanez RG1XXV Fluorescent Pink RG Premium Guitar
The fluorescent pink finish and the black pickguard are reminiscent of the 80's power metal and high-speed solos. The body of the Ibanez RG1XXV-FPK consists of american basswood as the fingerboard of the 5-piece Wizard neck provides pink Sharktooth inlays. DiMarzio IBZ pickups produce a distinctive tone which is [...]  Read more

  • Fender Custom Shop Buddy Holly Tribute Stratocaster on its way!

Posted on February 7, 2012 by Cosmo Music

To this day, it is hard to look at a Fender Stratocaster guitar and not think of Buddy Holly. His musical legacy remains unparalleled, but his impact and contribution to launching the Stratocaster will always remain part of Fenders history.
He burst onto the music scene with a 1955 Stratocaster and wrote most of his earliest hits on that guitar. Then, it was stolen. He bought another 1955 Stratocaster. It too was stolen. That original guitar has now been painstakingly reproduced using the original materials, pickups, woods, paint scheme, along with all the nicks and dings from Buddy’s original, and [...]  Read more

  • Latest Guthrie Guitar!

Posted on August 8, 2011 by Cosmo Music

It’s no secret that we’re big fans of Suhr guitars here at Cosmo, and the latest Guthrie Govan signature model is a great example of why.
Unlike the previous GG signature guitars, which have mahogany bodies and necks, this time it’s a basswood body, maple top (frequently referred to as John Suhr’s “Holy Grail” of tone), and a roasted maple neck. The roasting feature is a process where the maple is baked in a high-tech oxygen-free oven at 250 degrees Fahrenheit to remove moisture and other "impurities" in the wood. This results in an exceptionally stable neck that is perfect for [...]  Read more

  • New Arrivals: Jackson, Suhr & Gibson

Posted on May 3, 2011 by Ryan Casselman

As the Head of the Guitar Department here at Cosmo Music, I see great guitars all the time, and new items come in almost every day. This week though, it seems like we received a higher-than-usual number of amazing instruments. Here are a few highlights:
    2 American-made Jacksons
A Kelly and a King V. These high performance instruments are great examples of the original American-made heavy metal guitar.
    3 Pro-Series from Suhr
A C2 and a pair of T2’s. These guitars are proving very difficult to keep in stock! The build quality is top notch, and the sound they make is rivaled only by [...]  Read more

For the modern day metal player, a guitar not only has to look the part in order to match the intensity of the music, but it also must provide the performance, comfort and ease of playing to achieve it. This is exactly what the Ibanez DTT700 Destroyer brings to the table.
The DTT700 is a definite eye catcher, blending a classic metal look with modern, top notch features that makes it a fantastic performance monster. Its distinct shape is sure to stand out. • Ryan's Pick of the Week: The Custom Shop's ’52 Telecaster

Posted on February 8, 2011 by Ryan Casselman

The Fender Custom Shop has done it again…
The Telecaster, one of the earliest solid body electric guitars, has maintained popularity in part because of it’s hotrodability. For years it has been a platform for anything from a simple pick-up change to a more drastic Jeff Beck style body contour.
As if to pay homage to this legacy, The Custom Shop created a ’52 Tele with a premium lightweight Ash body, a maple neck with a mid-50’s soft V neck profile, modern Tele wiring, and a Custom Shop Nocaster pickup in the bridge. But what really makes this guitar happening is the [...]  Read more
