Its been over 20 years since they made a synthesizer with the very popular CZ series.
Yes, you get access to the original Casio CZ synth sounds in the XW-P1.
The six oscillator monophonic solo synth engine sounds amazing and was designed with the performer in mind. The regular sounds have 64 note polyphony so it does sound huge. It only weighs 11 pounds. This gig ready 61-key synth has a lots of sounds ranging from pianos to brass to bass and drums. There are over 400 presets to get you started but it has 4 real time control knobs for editing [...] Read more

The Allan Holdsworth Band - what a great show!
Posted on March 28, 2012 by Cosmo Music
Yesterday's event with the Allan Holdsworth band was outstanding with a packed house of about 275 guests. It was a pleasure to have one of the top jazz fusion guitarists of all time to be playing @ Cosmo Music, accompanied by world class musicians Jimmy Haslip on bass and Virgil Donati on drums. The trio performed incredibly well together with each taking solos in turn to showcase their exceptional skills. A night to remember!
Have a look as some of the great pics here:

Selecting the Correct Size Violin for your Child
Posted on March 13, 2012 by Brianna Papia
Posture is fundamental in string playing. Without correct posture students cannot master the physical skills necessary to develop basic string technique. Poor posture will cause discomfort, limit technical facility and may eventually cause pain and injury.
Young violinists do not have the physical endurance to hold up a violin that is too long, too wide or too heavy. There are several sizes of violins ranging from the smallest 1/32 to a full size (or 4/4). Many charts and measuring devices have been used to match the age, arm length, and/or height of a child with the correct size violin. These measurements [...] Read more

New Compact Mixers in the Rental Department – Soundcraft MFXi Series!
Posted on March 12, 2012 by Ryan McLeod
I’m happy to say that we’re upgrading our current compact mixer inventory to the new Soundcraft MFXi series! Available in 8, 12 and 20 channel versions, they offer all of the “usual” features at a great price, with a few extras thrown in that make them perfect as everyday tools:
IEC Power Cable inputs (no wall warts!)
Balanced XLR Outputs (no more ¼” converters!)
Four auxiliary sends, including built-in Lexicon Effects… that sound good!
When they say “8, 12 or 20 channels” they mean MONO Mic/Line channels, and they always have at least two more stereo inputs and returns too!
They sound great, thanks to [...] Read more

Musician Essentials
Posted on March 8, 2012 by Evelyn Lu
Being musicians ourselves, we know, through experience, that there are a few gadgets necessary to help make practicing more efficient:
Metronomes
Or, as most people know them, “the things that goes tik-tok”. If you’ve been using one, you’ll call it your worst/best frienemy. Whether you like using it or not, metronomes are a necessary evil when you’re practicing. No matter how accurate you think your toe-tapping is, you can’t beat the accuracy of a metronome. Like my teacher says, “Practice without accurate rhythm is worse than not practicing at all.” You can get an easy-to-operate metronome like the Yamaha ME-D1 that gives [...] Read more

Cubase Further Improves
Posted on March 7, 2012 by Fred Nicholson
I just installed Cubase 6.5 update on my home and store system and it really rocks! It’s a 50 dollar paid upgrade if you have Cubase 6 registered on your system BEFORE Jan 1 2012. If you registered Cubase 6 after that date or a brand new customer, the update is free to you!! First off since I’m a keyboard player I was very intrigued about how the 2 new VST synths sound - Padshop and Retrologue. Both are VERY good sounding and are very easy to use. Steinberg has posted good videos and sound demos on their website at [...] Read more

The Powers Behind The Korg Kronos
Posted on March 3, 2012 by John Ebata
There are times when a keyboard is so incredibly powerful that you keep discovering more and more useful things inside.
Last week I played a concert of original songs accompanying singer-songwriters. I used to carry a 30” rack full of MIDI synth modules and 3 keyboards to get all my sounds. With just the Kronos and one Combination per song, I could split and/or layer up to 16 different keyboard sounds, played sampled background vocals and was able to turn any of the sounds on or off with a switch and the sliders controlled individual volumes. The best was that the [...] Read more
