A lot of drummers find their favorite stick and well...stick to them (I'm here all week try the veal). Working in a drum shop I have the privilege to play many different types of sticks. When I first started, I played only Vic Firth 7A's, and they did the job fine. But when I started exploring the different sticks, I found many sounds and feels from sticks that change how I play.
We have some exciting new sticks in the Drummers Den.
Zildjian Dave Grohl Signature
- Length: 16.75
- Diameter: 0.6
- Wood Type: Hickory
- Tip Shape: Acorn
- Tip Type: Wood
These sticks diameters are in between a 2B and a 3A at 0.6 mm, and they have a little extra length at 16.75". They definitely have some weight and power behind them, made for giving your drums a big sound (much like Grohl on the drums). For an average player they would be a longer lasting stronger stick. For the hard rock player they'll give you a nice attack from your drums.
Zildjian Laminated Birch
Zildjian has introduced a new line of sticks. As the suggests these sticks are made of laminated birch. They take plys of birch and laminate them together, they then cover them in a resin and lacquer the stick. This makes for a very strong stick, that can take a beating!!
They come in different sizes including Heavey 7A, Heavey 6A, Heavey 5A, Heavey 5B, and Heavey Jazz. They have a very balanced and controlled feel to them. Because of the weight of them they do a lot of the work for you, making playing faster chops a little easier.
Looking for a great deal?!
Here's some sticks that won't break the bank.
Head Hunters Buddies
We recently started getting Head Hunters maple seconds sticks in stock. These are great sticks that just didn't meet the extremely high standards of HeadHunters. Sometimes they are perfect sticks but they have a blemish on the finish or they didn't lacquer properly. We have a bucket of over a hundred sticks to choose from so come check them out!
Pro-Mark L.A. Special
These sticks are a very similar to the Head Hunters, except they are made of hickory and not maple. Excellent value and an all around good buy!
