The quest for a real Hammond B3 sound complete with Leslie 122 and as much dirt and grind in the sound as one wishes has been what many of us have been searching for over the years. After owning 3 real Hammond B3 organs and multiple Leslie 122’s, most models have only been close until the new Nord Stage 2 organ. You can keep it clean or have the Deep Purple dirt in your sound, split the longer 73 note keyboard and have accurate slow fast rotor changes. The great thing about the Nord is that it is designed to be open ended so with a computer USB connection you can totally customize the sounds with your own wav or AIFF files, change the size and type of grand piano samples in the keyboard Flashrom and re-order the patches for your live shows.
The design of being totally hands on without searching through pages of menus provides ideal live usage and it is small and light!! Tuck it under your arm in a gig bag and off to the gig, less than 10% of the 350 lb Hammond without the Leslie speakers! Internally solid Pianos, e-pianos, great Clavinets, Hammond Farfisa and Vox organs and of course a section for controlling external computers VST-I’s or modules make the Nord Stage 2 a great master keyboard controller and so fun to play.
