Martin String Challenge

A couple of weeks ago we hosted the Martin String challenge here in the guitar department. Customers were invited to play 3 identical acoustic guitars (as identical as acoustics can be…) with 3 types of strings. This was Martin’s way of promoting their latest offering, the Lifespan SP strings.
For the Lifespan SP’s, Martin uses Cleartone technology to treat the string, rather than applying a thick coating. The result is a long lasting string with the feel and sound of a traditional guitar string.

Yamaha's new Motif XF6 Workstation

I have had the use of Yamaha’s new Motif XF6 workstation to prepare for a number of varied style performances. We should not forget keyboards like the Motif XF while not necessarily being the latest, hottest in the media, they are full of many “I did not realize it could do that function” surprises.
