The new Kurzweil PC3 LE and PC3K series has been a solid product line for us at Cosmo! We really like the sound, features and great price point that the current lineup has to offer.
With the latest PC3 series I feel Kurzweil has done a great job at combining modern features while capturing the great Kurzweil pure sound. Even better that they now have very competitive price points compared to the Japanese competition! The main difference between the very affordable PC3 LE series and the PC3 series is that the PC3 has 128 voice polyphony vs the PC3 LE series which has 64. This means that in a sequence or song that you record the PC3 can play up to 128 simultaneous notes vs the still acceptable 64 notes of the LE series.
The new free Mac/PC editor software for the PC3 Series has added great new sounds and capability to an already great synth. This allows computer editing of sounds and setups which are multi splits or layer modes that are useful for big textures or quick access to sounds in a live setting. The editor for the LE is available online. The new PC3K adds the capability of using the amazing and very large Kurzweil format sample library that I love and have used for over 15 years.
The PC3K can also load aiff and wave files from Mac and PC's which literally allows the user to load ANY sound into it. Kurzweil has carved a great niche in the theatre and film industries over the years and making the PC3K a must have for these types of productions! The user interface is also very easy and recording songs is a snap making the new PC3 LE and PC3 a great workstation series to own!
It’s time to pay us a visit and check out these Kurzweils!
