  • Buy or Rent?

Posted on April 20, 2010 by Al Carter

Here in the Band and Orchestra Department we get a lot of parents asking our advice on buying vs. purchasing a child's first band instrument. While every situation is different, we can usually guide you toward the best option for you and your young musician.
Here are the most common points we address in our department when parents come to us for advice.
    Renting:

Maintenance is included in your contract for regular wear and tear. Also, for $1/month, our Protection Plan will cover you for costs incurred through damage, loss or theft.

  • The K-Series line-up of Powered Speakers by QSC at Cosmo!

Posted on April 13, 2010 by Cosmo Music

These speakers are perfect for most live sound applications without the complicated set-up. Rated at 1000W per speaker from the 8” K-8 right up to the 12” K-12 they deliver power and clarity.
It seems QSC has thought of nearly everything: RCA inputs, which minimize the need for small mixers when playing music from a laptop, CD player or iPod; Line and Mic-Level inputs for those seeking amplification for speech or vocal performance; Post Gain outputs letting you adjust the whole system’s gain from the first speaker in the chain. And that only begins to describe [...]  Read more

Selections include Come Together, Here Comes the Sun, In My Life, The Long and Winding Road, Michelle, Penny Lane and Yesterday, with thirty songs in total. The beauty of the book is found not only in its outstanding song selection but also in its clear, easy to read printing with no tab and absolutely no page turns. I’ve got a copy myself and I love it.

  • Pick of the Week: Suhr Shiba Drive Pedal

Posted on April 7, 2010 by Cosmo Music

The Suhr Shiba Drive is a low to medium gain Overdrive pedal. This is the perfect pedal for the bluesy classic rock overdriven tones. You can go from Stevie Ray Vaughan to Angus Young in the twist of a knob.
Put this pedal in front of an amp which is already over-driven to get awesome sustain and drive. The tone is musical and balanced with firm lows, and punchy mids that deliver just the right amount of cut. The main controls are …1- Drive 1- Level and 1- Tone … The Shiba Drive pedal comes with a 3 way midrange EQ [...]  Read more

  • Reunion Blues Continental Gig Bag

Posted on April 7, 2010 by Rail Koonin

We have just received the stellar new line of Reunion Blues Continental gig bags. For those of us who much prefer the option of taking a gig bag over a hard shell case to the next gig be it near or far, you need look no further! I’d done some reading on these bags when they’d initially been introduced and seen photos of them online, but when I saw how robust and solid they really are I was floored!
The Continental is the result of three years of research and design, exploring every aspect of what makes a hybrid style gig [...]  Read more
